Friday, July 12, 2024This new minor release implies a database upgrade for customers previously using v.14.0.00131.
The procedure and script for automatic creation of the Promodag application in Microsoft Entra ID/Azure have been modified to grant it the lowest possible level of permissions.
Improvements
- It is now possible to run other operations if database compaction is in progress.
- The Console Activity window has been enhanced. All columns can be sorted and filtered; it is now possible to open the trace file associated with an operation performed on the console, and to export the entire contents of the window in CSV and XLS formats.
- The order in which servers are imported can now be modified and fixed in the import options, allowing you to define a priority if needed in a large Exchange environment.
- A checkbox allows you to display only licensed Exchange servers in the import options.
- The process of importing mobile device statistics has been improved and accelerated, especially if you manage a very substantial mobile device pool.
- The handling of messages sent simultaneously to a large number of recipients in Exchange Online – particularly to the All Users group -- has been improved to avoid the creation of very large Office 365 tracking logs.
- The cancellation of the Office 365 tracking log creation process has been optimized.
- The Calendar Item Search report has been enhanced by the addition of an option to send individual reports to each selected mailbox.
- The Recipient Mobile Devices report has been enhanced, and now allows many additional properties to be exported in CSV and Database Table formats.
Bug fixes
- Errors such as "A parameter cannot be found that matches parameter name 'SkipLoadingCmdletHelp' or "You cannot call a method on a null-valued expression" that could occur when testing the Office 365 connection have been fixed.
- Emailing reports and notifications via Office 365: An error such as "The operation can't be performed because the item is out of date. Reload the item and try again" has been fixed.
- Distribution Group Usage report: Some distribution groups could be missing from the report.

Wednesday, March 27, 2024This new minor release implies a database upgrade for customers previously using v.14.0.0119. The Exchange Online Management PowerShell module shipped with the product is upgraded to the latest version, i.e. v. 3.4.0.
Improvements
- The import of message tracking logs is now possible if a directory import is in progress and processing the retrieval of group members.
- The preparation step for on-premises Exchange servers prior to importing their message tracking logs has been optimized.
- If the Global Catalog server defined in the Active Directory connection options is unavailable, the application now searches for another and imports the directory and tracking logs.
- The zipping and unzipping of tracking logs is now handled by a separate process.
- Indexes have been added to the database to optimize certain queries.
- Individual purge of imported tracking logs via the Import history has been optimized.
- The default expiry value of a scheduled task created by Promodag Reports has been changed from 3 days to 1 day.
- The accuracy of import times for message tracking logs has been improved in trace files.
- Options for selecting future periods have been added to the Calendar Items Search report. Current weeks, months, quarters and years are also considered up to the actual end of these periods in the same report rather than up to today's date.
- Exports to CSV/database table in the Message Response Times report now display the SMTP address of both sender and recipient.
- An option has been added to the Output tab > File > CSV to indicate the size unit in the corresponding column header.
Bug fixes
- A ghost task could continue to appear in Running state in the Console Activity option, even though the corresponding process had been killed.
- The interruption of a message tracking log import and the subsequent launch of Promodag Reports could take a very long time.
- An SQL exception of type “Cannot insert the value NULL into column ‘Id_Message’” could occur while importing message tracking logs.
- The Append to table option did not work when exporting a report to a database table.
- Filtering items by SenderEmailAddress gave inconsistent results in reports of the Mailbox Content category.

Improvements
- Entering an "impersonated user" is now optional when configuring the Office 365 connection with certificate-based authentication. It is only necessary for customers whose public folders are hosted in Exchange Online.
Bug fixes
- The ApplicationID parameter required for certificate-based authentication to Office 365 was incorrectly saved, resulting in the error message "Parameter 'AppId cannot be null for certificate based connections".
- A "TenantId is required for modern authentication" error could occur when testing EWS with user authentication.
- A message indicating that the configuration of the Office 365 connection was incomplete could appear at the end of the configuration wizard, after data imports.

The security of the certificate authentication mode has been strengthened, requiring the creation of a new application in Azure and the deactivation of the standard application used until now.
Improvements
- Report names and numbers now appear in the operations report issued at the end of a batch.
- Database size import has been adapted to use PowerShell.
- Mailbox counters have been improved and clarified in the Office 365 section of the License window.
Bug fixes
- The Recipients by Attributes report counted unique recipients, which could distort totals.
- The Chart Palette preview did not work in the Style Editor.

Wednesday, October 18, 2023This new minor release does not imply any database upgrade for customers previously using v.14.0.0091. The Exchange Online Management PowerShell module shipped with the product is upgraded to the latest version, i.e. v. 3.3.0.
Improvements
- The case of mailboxes being moved from one Exchange database to another is now considered when importing mailbox sizes.
- Several unnecessary warnings are no longer displayed in email notifications sent on completion of batches.
- The diagnosis of configuration errors preventing the execution of reports on mailbox and public folder contents has been improved.
Bug fixes
- Recurring meetings appeared twice in the Calendar Item Search report.
- Activating the option to aggregate the remaining data could generate inconsistent results when grouped in the Mailbox Storage Information report.

Improvements
- Contacts and groups can now be sorted by date last used in the Mail Contact Usage and Distribution Group Usage reports.
- The Calendars option has been extended to the Mailbox Traffic and Traffic Statistics reports.
- Some 50 palettes for selecting colors for graphics have been added to the Style Editor option. See this blog post.
- The SMTP address of distribution group owners has been added to the CSV export of the Distribution Groups report.
Bug fixes
- Endpoints for Office 365 Clouds other than Worldwide were not correctly defined in the application.
- A "The certificate chain was issued by an authority that is not trusted" exception could occur when exporting a report to a database table.
- Use of the Append to table option when exporting to a database table could return an error if the existing data was inconsistent with that of the table to be added.
- An exception of type "The multi-part identifier "#Tmp_RptKeysInclude.Id_Group1" could not be bound" could occur with the Mailbox Size Growth report.
- An "Invalid column name 'GroupName1'" exception occurred when grouping and reporting separately in the Distribution Groups report.
- The Separate report option on the Group tab only produced a single page.

New Reports
- A new report providing statistics on mailbox creations and modifications by date has been added to the Organization Overview category: Recipient Management Statistics. See this blog post.
- A new report offering the equivalent of the information provided by the Global traffic Comparison by Correspondent report at mailbox level has been added to the Mailbox Traffic category: Mailbox Traffic Comparison by Correspondent. See this blog post.
Improvements
- It is now possible to display the top n "consumers" in the traffic reports, in which it is now possible to sort on the total messages sent and received.
- The Mailbox Traffic Across Time Interval report now offers a time interval per minute.
Bug fixes
- An error "Incorrect function called or unknown function called" could be incorrectly displayed in the Task Automation option for scheduled tasks.
- The report search engine no longer worked on custom report names in the Report Explorer.
- Limits expressed in MB and GB were incorrect in the Selected Attributes from Recipients report.
- The Item Breakdown by Folder report did not take sub-folders into account.
- An exception of type "Conversion from type 'DBNull' to type 'Long' is not valid" could occur in the Mailbox Storage Information report.
- An exception of type "Invalid object name '#Tmp_RptTemp'" occurred with the filter "Issue warning - total item size (MB)" in the Mailbox Folder Size report.

Monday, April 3, 2023This new minor release implies a database upgrade for customers previously using v.14.0.0062. The version of the ExchangeOnlineManagement module shipped with the product is 3.0.1.
New Features
- The attribute indicating that distribution groups are moderated is imported along with the list of their moderators. It can be exported in CSV and Database formats into the Distribution Group report, displayed in this report as an optional attribute, and filtered in its advanced selection settings. For more information about this feature, see this blog post.
Improvements
- The import of synchronized recipients from Exchange on-premises to Office 365 has been optimized.
- A message is now displayed if some SMTP addresses in the list have not been identified in the Tools > Create a Recipient Selection option. For more details about this option, see this blog post.
- The tabular version of the Correspondents by Traffic Level report now aggregates correspondents not in the selected top n into an <Other> category.
- Database compaction has been made optional at the end of an upgrade.
Bug fixes
- The link to an on-premises SharePoint output library displayed after outputting a report did not work.
- Several exceptions occurring when exporting to CSV format from the Mailbox Traffic in a Time Interval, Mailbox Storage Information and Delegated Mailings reports have been fixed.
- An exception of type "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" occurred when clicking the Choose Fields link in the CSV export option of the Traffic Optimization group reports.
- A "Cannot drop the table '#Tmp_RptTemp3', because it does not exist or you do not have permission" exception could occur in the Mailbox Groups by Traffic Level report.
- An exception of type "Ambiguous column name 'Id_Group1'" could occur in the Mailbox Size Fluctuation report.

Bug fixes
- Repetitive errors of type "ServiceRequestException: The request failed. The remote server returned an error: (401)" would occur in the Item Breakdown by Age report if the token used by modern authentication expired before a very large folder in an Office 365 mailbox was finished processing.
- An error of type "Public folders not accessed: Autodiscover blocked a potentially insecure redirection to https://outlook.xx.xx/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml" could prevent the generation of reports in the Public Folder Content category.
- An exception of type "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" occurred when clicking the "Collapse All" buttons in the Report Explorer.
- An exception of type "An item with the same key has already been added. Key: G0" occurred when clearing the content of the Search for Reports field.
- An exception of type "The multi-part identifier "ADCONTAINERS_1.NetBiosName" could not be bound" could occur when exporting the Recipient Delegate Permissions report to a CSV file or database table.

Wednesday, January 18, 2023This new release implies the upgrade of the database format to v.14.3 for customers previously using v.14.0.0036. It is shipped with .NET 6.0.13 which fixes the Denial of Service vulnerability CVE-2023-21538.
Improvements
- The Run a Group of Reports option now allows you to generate multiple reports based on a time interval. See this blog post.
- The management of SharePoint exports now considers the sub-sites. See this blog post.
- Some irrelevant data are no longer imported with the content of the Exchange tracking logs, which improves the import time and avoids overloading the database unnecessarily.
- The design of the main window of Promodag Reports has been revamped.
Bug fixes
- Office 365 licenses were not imported if their name started with "Microsoft 365".
- Database connection was no longer working when using an alias due to a bug in .NET 6.
- The Office 365 tenant name was not retrieved when switching from user authentication mode to certificate authentication mode in the Office 365 Connection tab.
- The Configuration Wizard was launching unexpectedly at the end of the migration process of settings and scheduled tasks in the previous version of Promodag Reports.
- An "Ambiguous column name 'LastLogonTime'" SQL exception occurred when exporting this attribute to CSV or Database Table in reports.
- A "The correlation name 'RECIPIENTS_PROPS' has the same exposed name as table 'RECIPIENTS_PROPS'" SQL exception occurred when exporting to CSV or Database Table the LastInteractionTime, LastLogoffTime, LastLogonTime or LastUserActionTime attributes in the Recipient Details report.

- The operation for creating Office 365 tracking logs is now fully decoupled from the connection to a database in batch mode, which will avoid losing valuable information in case of temporary unavailability of the database.
Bug fixes
- A Quick Update of the Office 365 directory requested the recipients modified since 01/01/0001 at 00:00:00.
- Exporting reports larger than 2 MB to SharePoint Online was impossible.
- The result of the send test in the Email and Notifications tab was negative even though the message had been sent successfully.
- The dialog box to send a trace to Promodag was running in the background and was blocking the application.
- An SQL exception of the type "Incorrect syntax near the keyword 'Database'" occurred systematically when exporting the Recipient Detail report as a CSV file.
- Several bugs affecting the completeness and readability of the Calendar Item Search report have been fixed in this release.

Improvements
- The migration wizard for v.11 and v.12 settings has been revised and corrected.
- A warning is now issued if an SQL Server Express LocalDB database reaches 90% of its maximum size (10 GB).
Bug fixes
- The behavior of the filter selection control had become erratic.
- Launching custom reports from v.12 containing a filter on the LastLogonTime property caused an SQL exception of type "Invalid property".
- The database upgrade could end in an SQL exception of type "The given key xxx was not present in the dictionary" if unicode characters (Hebrew, Arabic, Cyrillic) were present.

- A Classification field has been added to the CSV export to indicate whether messages are classified as Normal, Spam, Virus or Failed. See this post.

Monday, October 17, 2022This new major version implies the upgrade of the database format to v.14.1 for customers previously using v.12. The Access database format is no longer supported as well as Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2. For an overview of Promodag Reports v.14, see this post.
New features
- It is now possible to connect without an account to Office 365 by authorizing the Promodag Reports application in Azure AD. See this post.
- The Office 365 license type is now retrieved when importing the directory and can be used as an attribute in reports. See this post.
Improvements
- Promodag Reports now works in 64-bit mode only. The only executable is Repex.exe.
- Office 365 message tracking logs can now be generated 10 days back instead of 7.
- The application was rewritten in .NET 6.
- .NET 6, PowerShell 7 and the ExchangeOnlineManagement module are now delivered with the application, which eliminates most software prerequisites.
New and Significantly Enhanced Reports
- The Delegated Mailings report is used to show messages sent by delegates from an Office 365 mailbox. See this post.
- The Find Specific Messages report now allows filtering for messages whose status is Spam, Quarantine/Virus, and Failed.
- The Mailbox Storage Information report shows whether limits are inherited from the Exchange database or are mailbox specific. See this post.
- Two CSV export formats are available in the Distribution Groups report: with or without the member list. See this post.
- The layout of the Recipient Detail report has been revised and improved.
Usability Enhancements
- The Tag Messages by Subject option allows you to assign a category to your tags and choose the direction of the messages. See this post.
- The context menu of the Report Explorer has been enhanced with a Rename command as well as two other entries that allow you to add a custom report to a new batch or an existing one.
- The dialog box displayed when exporting a report to disk now contains a link to the output folder.

- A new option to force on-premises PowerShell requests to be submitted via https instead of http has been added to the PowerShell Connection tab of Tools > Options.
- Promodag Reports startup has been optimized when selecting Office 365 mailboxes to license.
- Notification messages are now prioritized according to their content (error, warning, OK) and their subject line has been shortened to make it more readable.
- It is now possible to copy Exchange recipients' properties in the organization tree, especially their email addresses.
Bug fixes
- Daily IIS log file imports were only occurring every other day for some customers depending on their time zone.
- The Mailbox Size Fluctuation report did not return any data when run in batch mode or via the Run a Group of Reports option.
- An SQL exception of type "Arithmetic overflow error converting expression to data type int" could occur when running the data purge options.
- A SQL exception of type "Could not find stored procedure 'sp_addlinkedserver 'server\instance'" occurred when copying the structure from a SQL Server database to a SQL LocalDB database.

- The method for importing the size of public folders hosted in Office 365 has been improved and made more reliable. This change should benefit customers with more than 50,000 public folders in Exchange Online.
- The Forward and Redirect property is now imported for mailboxes hosted in Office 365.
- The option to copy the Administrative Consent link has been improved to prevent it from being interpreted as two separate links.
Significantly enhanced reports
- The access method for Office 365 mailboxes has been improved to avoid authorization token errors in mailbox content reports.
Bug fixes
- A "commonName xxx seems to concern recips nnnn and nnnn" exception could occur during the import of the Office 365 directory due to the presence of Soft Deleted mailboxes.
- Some of the quota filter labels were showing KB instead of MB in the Mailbox Storage Information report. In addition, the same report could show an incorrect value for the size limit of outgoing and incoming messages.
- Selecting a top n returned an incorrect result in the Public Folder Storage Information report.
- The breakdown of sent messages by delegate displayed the mailbox name instead of the delegate names in the reports of the Mailbox Traffic category.
- The total number of attachments displayed by the Message Attachments report at the Summary detail level was incorrect.
- An "invalid column name iResult" exception occurred in the Mailbox Storage Cost Chargeback report when using a filter.
- The recipient detail were no longer available in the Flow Origin and Destination report.

- The minimum version requirement for the Exchange Online Management module has been reduced to v. 2.0.3.
- The case of Office 365 distribution groups not synchronized on premises for which contacts sharing the same SMTP address have been created in Active Directory for routing purposes is now accounted for.

- The Admin Consent link was no longer offered upon testing the connection to Office 365.
- The CSV export of the Selected Attributes from Recipients report was incomplete.

- The fields in a CSV file can now be selected, deselected, and reordered at will in the Choose Fields option before exporting.
- The default order of the fields in a CSV file to be exported has been fixed so that it corresponds exactly to the one displayed in the grid of the Choose Fields option.
Significantly enhanced reports
- It is now possible to run mailbox content reports for more than an hour if basic authentication is disabled in Office 365.
- The loading of the public folder tree in the Selection tab of the corresponding reports could take more than 3 minutes if there were many of them. It has been reduced to less than 5 seconds.
- The Mailbox Permissions report now displays non-mail-enabled security groups in the delegate list.
Bug fixes
- An exception "Showing a modal dialog box or form when the application is not running in UserInteractive mode is not a valid operation" could occur in batch mode if the ExchangeOnlineManagement module version was lower than 2.0.5.
- The calculation of the average was apparently incorrect if mailboxes and their archives were selected in the Mailbox Size Growth report.
- Reports in the Public Folder Content category were no longer working with modern authentication in Office 365 if a specific user account was not selected in the EWS Connection tab of the On-Premises Configuration section of the Options menu.
- The Mail Contact Usage report incorrectly assigned 1 message to unused contacts.

- An exception "There is already an object named 'Tmp_FPATHS_PK' in the database" occurred in the Public Folder Size report.
- An exception "The parameter GroupingLevel is no present in the file: PRR00xx_y" occurred in all reports of the Public Folder Content category.
- The calculation of the number of distinct recipients was incorrect in the Recipient Breakdown by Day of the Week/Hour of the Day reports.

- The PowerShell Exchange Online V2 cmdlets are now supported. These commands speed up the import of the directory and mailbox size from Office 365 by a factor of between 4 and 8.
- Modern authentication with Office 365 is now supported for mailbox content reports.
- Office 365 GCC High environments are now supported.
- The Access database format has now been superseded by SQL LocalDB, with a maximal size of 10 GB instead of 2 GB.
- A Migration Wizard helps you migrate your entire v.11 configuration is a few clicks.
- Promodag Reports now runs by default in 64-bit mode.
Improvements
- The type of public folders used in your environment (legacy, modern, Office 365) is now better identified.
- The method for importing the size of public folders has been improved.
- The selection range of the tracking logs to import now takes the local time as reference instead of UTC.
- Calendar-related notifications are excluded from traffic reports.
- Scheduled tasks can be directly started and ended from the interface of the product. It is also possible to change their priority.
Other Improvements
- The Public Folder Storage Information report now allows you to select individual public folders through a tree, or by their Public Folder mailbox.
- The selection options for the Public Folder Content reports have been standardized with those of the Storage report. Folders can be selected by server, DAG, Public Folder mailbox or individually through a tree.
- The Calendar Item Search report now displays recurring meetings.
- The Recipient Mobile Devices report now displays the last sync’s date.
- All attributes of the distribution groups can now be exported to CSV format in the Distribution Group Usage report.
- An error "The RPC server is unavailable" occurred if the Print Spooler service was disabled.

Following the April 2021 cumulative update, Microsoft disabled the WinRM scripts that Promodag Reports was using. As a result, PowerShell commands failed with the following error: "The syntax is not supported by this runspace. This can occur if the runspace is in no-language mode". This update of Promodag Reports solves this problem.
Bug fixes
Messages were no longer sorted chronologically at the Message Subject line detail level in the General Mailbox Traffic report.
